I had the privilege of watching play only twice onece in Bangalore against Botham led England and another against Fletcher led England at Madras.unfortunately in both the matches Sunny didnot score much. Sunny with all his achievements stands tall in world cricket. facing the likes of Lillee, Thommo, Malacom,Garner,Holding,Roberts unprotected was feather in his cap. Wishing u a very happy SHASTIPOORTHY!!!!

at the age of 60 looks like 35 years young man sunil.... when it comes to 60 35 I remembers your innings of 35 runs in 60 overs during the world cup.. playing 60 overs and schoring 35runs not an easy sunil... it is a positive comment

I do not subscribe to the view of criticising the great man in whatever capacity In this world, everybody has shortcomings. To be very honest, I am a great fan of Sunil's brother-in-law Gundappa Vishwanath. But one has to give credit to his achievements. When we were an unknown quantity in the cricket world, he showed the other countries that what India is capable of in terms of performance. He has taken the country to himalayan heights. Let the critics answer - after his exit, can you compare one opener to the great man? Here is wishing the man all the best in his future endeavours.

For me Gavaskar stands for Indian Cricket. He is the world face of Indian Cricket. He showes his class when the bowlers like Mikel Holding, Danis Lilly, Imran Khan, Richard Haddly were just the other name of Fear in Cricket. I salute the real GENIOUS of Indian Cricket.

Well, he may be a good batsman...but his attitude was always questionable...scoring 36 not out in 60 overs definitely raises questions..was the first one to bring the horrors of match-fixing alongwith his uncle Madhav Mantri...

Always biased while commentating...Even when sachin gets out for a duck, Gavaskar says that he is a great batsman to get out like that..ridiculous

One do not know if at all there will be another opening batsman at par with the legend in the next decades. What more to say about the original 'Little Master' At a time when Indian cricket was lying low, Gavaskar showed to the world that India is a force to reckon with. The solidity he brought in his batting is beyond describing in words. He was rock solid and bowlers had horrowing time once the 'Little Master' gets his eye in. He ws a role model to many youngsters in the game. Gavaskar showed that which ball to leave and which ball to play and is an art in the exhibition of batting. Openign the batting and that too facing a red cherry is a difficult proposition, as echoed by his famous brother-in-law Gundappa Viswanath, who is another Master who brought joys to spectators by his delicte late cuts and exquisite cover drives. Indian cricket is proud to have a cricketer of the stature of Sunil Manohar Gavaskar who not only excelled as the game's greatest opening bat, but also in media, commentary and administration. Here is wishing Gavaskar a very long life and successful career in his future endeavours.
